Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dačić has announced the upcoming launch of direct flights from Belgrade to Guangzhou, starting on October 1, with flights to Shanghai set to follow in November. Air Serbia will operate the new route to Guangzhou, marking its expansion two years after initiating direct flights to Tianjin.

The flights from Belgrade to Guangzhou will operate twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, departing at 00:50 local time. Return flights from Guangzhou to Belgrade will also be on Mondays and Fridays, departing at 22:10 local time.

Guangzhou, a major city and vital commercial hub in southern China, is often referred to as the “gateway to southern China.” The Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is located 28 kilometers from the city center, nestled between Renhe in Baiyun District and Xinhua in Huadu District.

There have been reports that Air Serbia plans to introduce direct flights to Shanghai as well. These flights are expected to begin with the next summer season, with a schedule of two flights per week.

Transport Minister Goran Vesić confirmed in May that Air Serbia had secured approvals from Chinese aviation authorities for both routes, with permits valid for three years. The start of these flights was contingent upon the airline’s introduction of new wide-body aircraft to its fleet.
