Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) has issued a public procurement tender to enhance the safety management system (SMS) for the HPP “Đerdap 1”. According to the procurement documentation, the upgrade aims to improve the system’s functionality throughout 2024 by adding new capabilities for analyzing the dam’s behavior. This includes automating the process for issuing warnings about deviations from expected values using advanced inference methods based on expert knowledge and observation systems.
The upgrade will also focus on boosting the reliability, efficiency, and security of the SMS by installing advanced server components, such as new server layers and databases. These improvements will align with current IT technologies, hardware and security standards. Additionally, the project involves updating and reorganizing technical documentation, and providing a web-based solution for interactive use and administration of the system.
The documentation highlights that dams, by their nature, present inherent risks to surrounding areas, which cannot be entirely eliminated. Ensuring the safety of large structures like the HPP “Đerdap 1” is paramount. As dams age, the need for ongoing monitoring and timely responses to potential issues grows to prevent damage, collapse, or uncontrolled water discharge.
The SMS is a critical system designed to collect and analyze data important for dam safety, interpret this data through mathematical models, and guide the necessary measures to maintain safety throughout the dam’s operational life.
The estimated value of the procurement is 32 million dinars, excluding VAT. The deadline for submitting offers is September 25.
