The Serbian government has reserved approximately 107 million dinars for the subsidization of electric vehicles in 2024, from a total budget of 170 million dinars allocated for this initiative, according to Minister of Environmental Protection Irena Vujović.

Minister Vujović reported that these funds will support the purchase of 187 electric vehicles this year. She emphasized that this initiative demonstrates a positive response from citizens, entrepreneurs and businesses toward transitioning to environmentally friendly transportation. This subsidy is part of a broader set of measures aimed at improving air quality by encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles, which produce no harmful emissions.

Vujović highlighted that, under the current Decree, an additional 63 million dinars remains available for further subsidies. The high level of interest in electric vehicles in recent years has led the ministry to allocate extra funds to ensure that all eligible applicants can benefit from this support. To date, the Ministry of Environmental Protection has invested over one billion dinars in this program.

The minister also noted that this subsidy program not only supports cleaner air but could also stimulate domestic production of electric vehicles and boost demand for eco-friendly transportation options.

Subsidies are available to individuals, entrepreneurs, and businesses, with amounts ranging from 250 euros to 5,000 euros depending on the vehicle type. Applications can be submitted to the Ministry until the funds are exhausted, with a final deadline of October 31 of the current year.
