Director of IT and e-Government Office meets Oracle’s VP for Central and Eastern Europe to establish SaaS platform

Mihailo Jovanović, the Director of the Office for IT and e-Government, held a meeting in Belgrade with Vice President of Oracle for Central and Eastern Europe and the LEENA region. They discussed the establishment of the “Oracle SaaS (Software as a Service)” platform, which aims to significantly accelerate the implementation of applications and services for users. This initiative will reduce the time required to launch new services while also enhancing security measures and improving accessibility from anywhere at any time.

According to the statement from the Office for IT and e-Government, leveraging modern Oracle SaaS infrastructure will enable quicker adoption of new technologies and tools, including machine learning, artificial intelligence and data analytics.

Jovanović highlighted that Oracle is one of the first and certainly the largest commercial user of the National Data Center in Kragujevac. This partnership allows the data center to provide advanced Oracle Cloud solutions to end-users worldwide, making it unique in this part of Europe. He emphasized that the Office and Oracle are continuously working to strengthen and enhance their collaboration, with the goal of offering the complete range of Oracle Cloud services from the National Data Center.

Attending the meeting were Aleksandar Milinković, Assistant Director for Infrastructure; Nenad Rakić, Assistant Director for System Services and Licensing; and Oracle representatives Predrag Milićević and Jovana Marković Vidaković.

Since its establishment in 2017, the Office for IT and e-Government has developed a partnership with Oracle, having signed the first state Oracle agreement, which positioned Serbia as the first country in Central and Eastern Europe to implement modern Oracle Cloud technologies and services in public administration development.

For the period from January to August 2024, total exports of ICT services reached €2.629 billion, representing a 19% increase compared to the same period in 2023. In August 2024 alone, exports of these services amounted to €323 million, reflecting an 8% rise compared to August 2023. The surplus in ICT services for the first eight months of 2024 stands at €2.044 billion, as reported by Tanjug.
