Serbian Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović recently stated that China is the largest investor in the Serbian economy, with the value of Serbian exports to China increasing by 87 times over the past decade.
In an interview with Politika, Mesarović emphasized the significant role the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries has played in opening new opportunities for Serbian businesses.
“China currently leads the list of the top 10 investors in the Serbian economy. The free trade agreement holds immense economic and political significance. On one hand, it grants our economy access to the world’s largest market of over 1.4 billion people, and on the other hand, it will stimulate even more Chinese investments in Serbia,” the minister explained.
She also highlighted areas where further cooperation could be strengthened, particularly in emerging sectors such as new technologies, renewable energy, artificial intelligence applications, and the food industry. Mesarović expressed optimism about the potential for increased exports in these areas in the near future.
