Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport sees 9% increase in flights and 13% rise in passengers in first half of the year

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport reported a notable 9% increase in flight operations during the first half of the year, with a total of 39,580 flights. Passenger traffic surged by 13%, reaching approximately 3.7 million travelers, according to data from Vinci Airports, the French group overseeing the airport’s operations.

Comparing to the first half of 2019, the airport achieved a 25% increase in flights and a 42% rise in passenger numbers.

In the second quarter alone, the airport handled over 2.1 million passengers, reflecting a 7% increase from the same period last year. The number of flights in this quarter also rose to 21,513, nearly 4% higher than the previous year’s second quarter.

Since Vinci Group began its renovation project in 2019, significant improvements have been made. Notably, a new terminal section opened last year, expanding the terminal’s space by 11,000 square meters and enhancing connectivity with the existing terminal.

Overall, the airport experienced a total of 81 million passengers, marking an 8.2% increase from the previous year and a 1.8% rise compared to 2019.
