Serbia and South Korea forge strategic partnership in creative industries

The national platform “Serbia creates” and the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (BIPA) of South Korea have signed a Memorandum of strategic cooperation focused on creative industries. The agreement was formalized by Ambassador Nemanja Grbić on behalf of Serbia’s “Serbia creates” platform and the creative-innovative center Ložionica, along with Kim Te-yol, the General Director of BIPA.

Highlighting the dynamic bilateral exchange between Serbia and South Korea, particularly in digitization, e-government and IT sectors, the signing reflects a mutual initiative from the governments of both countries to enhance collaboration in creative industries.

Ana Ilić, Director of Ložionica and “Serbia creates,” emphasized significant opportunities for knowledge exchange, idea sharing, and market development between Serbia and South Korea. South Korea, renowned for its strategic development of creative industries and home to the vibrant gaming sector, recognizes Serbia as a leader in European gaming.

Busan, the epicenter of creative industries in South Korea, hosts globally recognized events such as the “Busan Indie Connect Festival” and the “Busan Global Webtoon Festival.” BIPA invited Serbian representatives to participate in these festivals, underscoring the potential for fruitful cooperation.

Kim Tae-yol expressed satisfaction with establishing a cooperative framework with Serbia, highlighting Serbia’s ICT leadership and immense potential for growth in creative industries. This partnership aims to stimulate the content industry’s growth and foster creative sectors with high added value in both countries.
