Serbia’s top startups will be presented at the prestigious Web Summit in Lisbon from November 11 to 14. Jelena Begović, Serbia’s Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, emphasized that the country has made significant progress in its participation at this global event. This year, alongside the National Stand, Serbia will introduce the “Serbian Island,” which will feature at least 39 startup companies.
Minister Begović told Tanjug that Serbian startups will have the opportunity to showcase their innovations to investors and other startups from around the world, further demonstrating the speed at which the country is advancing in the fields of innovation and the economy. Serbia currently has around 800 startups, and in science and technology parks alone, more than 4,500 young people are employed, with an annual growth rate of 20 to 30 percent.
The Web Summit in Lisbon presents a crucial opportunity for these Serbian startups to connect with global investors and expand their business opportunities on the international market. The Ministry of Science and Technological Development, through the Innovation Activity Fund, aims to increase the presence of domestic startups by providing support through space rental in science and technology parks.
Minister Begović hopes that in the coming years, the number of companies founded at universities and scientific institutes, led by Serbian experts and scientists, will continue to grow.
Over 300 members will be part of Serbia’s delegation in Lisbon, and a range of events, including masterclasses, presentations, lectures, and meetings, will take place at the Serbian Island and the National Stand.
The Serbian Island will feature 24 startups, including FeJuice, Curious Sparrow, VeloxDB, GuideLites, WellPet, Beeamond, Vinaver, ByTeć, Dynamic Mockups, ArćFix, Sneg, WPT Energy, Artemi, WhereToPark, Xcentric IT, OROOK, Kinestas Machines, Smart Lena, CareerfIT, Benefiti, Tourism Software Solutions, The Social Formula, Slotify and NavBlind.
At the National Stand, 15 startups will have the opportunity to present themselves to the global tech elite, including Fuller Vision, Urbigrow, Mily Teć, Reputeo, Shopnosis, Zenhire, Ota Sync, Nextesy, City and Me, Tour Wisperer, HerbaElixa, Platform Services, Booking Guru, 0QR, and Trust2me.
This year, Lisbon is expected to host around 71,000 participants from 160 countries, including more than 3,000 startups, 340 partners, and over 1,000 investors. The Web Summit will also feature prominent global leaders, diplomats, founders and CEOs of the world’s most influential tech companies and high-growth startups.
The event will be covered by more than 1,800 media representatives.
