Vladimir Lučić, CEO of Telekom Serbia, announced today that the company has maintained its position at the top of the regional rankings for three consecutive years, leading in both revenue and profit. According to a report from a Croatian portal, Telekom Serbia has overtaken Croatian Telekom to become the most significant mobile operator in the market following a transformation in its operations.
In 2023, Telekom Serbia achieved record-breaking results, including revenue exceeding two billion euros, an operating profit surpassing one billion euros, and a net profit of 49 billion dinars at the group level, with 35 billion dinars attributed to Telekom Serbia specifically.
Lučić noted a decline in traditional fixed telephony usage, with social networks such as WhatsApp and Viber increasingly replacing SMS communication. He reported a 22 billion dinar decrease in income from international traffic and fixed telephony over the past decade, a trend that continues. Despite this, Telekom Serbia has increased its operating income by more than 500 million euros in the last six years, with consistent growth in revenue, operating income, and profit.
While the company’s expenses remain stable, Lučić acknowledged that debt has risen due to investment loans used for upgrading infrastructure and modernizing the mobile network.
Regarding his recent visit to Frankfurt, Lučić expressed satisfaction with Telekom Serbia’s performance in Germany. He explained that the company now offers mobile services in Germany, allowing users to switch networks without changing their number and avoid roaming charges when visiting Serbia. Additionally, users can access all channels on TV or mobile devices with Telekom Serbia’s SIM card.
Lučić highlighted Germany as a significant market due to its large Serbian diaspora, which surpasses that of Austria, where the company first expanded. Telekom Serbia currently serves about 240,000 users in Austria and anticipates even greater returns from the German market.
To enhance customer service, Telekom Serbia plans to open branch offices in German cities, where citizens can inquire about the company’s services. These offices will also sell toll tags valid in Serbia, Montenegro and North Macedonia, alongside their services in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
