USA increases aid to Serbia: New developments in economic and administrative support

The United States of America, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), has expanded its support for Serbia by signing two amendments to existing aid agreements. These amendments will provide an additional $18 million in development aid to the country.

The signing ceremony, attended by US Ambassador Christopher Hill and Serbian officials, marked the enhancement of aid agreements aimed at improving public administration and fostering a more competitive market economy in Serbia.

Ambassador Hill emphasized the longstanding partnership between USAID and Serbia over 23 years, highlighting collaborative efforts in areas such as energy, environmental protection, policy reform, and economic growth. He underscored that USAID’s support aligns with Serbia’s identified needs and priorities, emphasizing cooperation and mutual benefit.

Hill noted the alignment of USAID’s initiatives with Serbia’s path towards EU convergence, emphasizing the importance of consistent efforts in cooperation with the European Union.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Hill also mentioned his upcoming visit to a USAID project outside Belgrade focused on improving insulation in residential buildings, which aims to enhance comfort and energy efficiency.

Tanja Miščević, representing Serbia, expressed appreciation for the ongoing cooperation with USAID, highlighting that since 2001, Serbia has received more than 1.2 billion euros in assistance through various USAID programs.

Brooke Aysham, USAID Mission Director in Serbia, also participated in the ceremony, reaffirming USAID’s commitment to supporting Serbia’s development goals through collaborative projects and initiatives.
