The political party Serbia Center – Srce has called for the immediate removal of the surcharge for privileged electricity producers from electricity bills. They demand that the relevant authorities eliminate the charge listed as item number eight – the “surcharge for the incentive of privileged electricity producers” – arguing there is no justified reason for Serbian citizens to continue bearing this cost.
The party criticized many illogical and unnecessary charges on the Serbian electricity provider EPS’s bills, noting that EPS gains no benefit from these fees but faces public pressure due to them, which they say is unwarranted since the regime imposed these charges without any rational basis.
Serbia Center – Srce also questioned who qualifies as a privileged electricity producer under what criteria, highlighting that this charge causes significant harm to EPS itself.
They further alleged that these privileged producers are individuals and companies tied to a criminal-corrupt clan that has exploited Serbia for over 12 years, including close relatives and associates of the ruling cartel’s leader, Nikola Petrović.
