The newly established Nuclear Energy Commission at the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences will provide expert support to state institutions regarding Serbia’s potential use of nuclear energy. The Commission, composed of 23 experts across various fields, will first assess the necessity of building a nuclear power plant.
If Serbia decides to pursue nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, the Commission will help design the national nuclear program and assist in its implementation. According to Slavko Dimović, director of the Vinča Institute, the Commission is now operational, and the first results and recommendations are expected as the assessment and planning phases progress.
