Serbia expects more cooperation with Huawei: minister

Serbia expects opportunities to expand its cooperation with the Chinese telecommunication company Huawei, Serbian minister in charge of innovation and technological development Nenad Popovic said Friday.

Speaking at a briefing for Chinese media on the occasion of the upcoming 4th China-CEEC Conference on Innovation Cooperation in Belgrade, Popovic said his country has partnered Huawei in many projects and benefited from the joint projects, and Serbia is willing to expand cooperation with Huawei in the future.

Popovic said Huawei is already an important partner of Serbian projects such as Smart City and the development of telecommunication infrastructure.

He expressed his hope that in the future Serbia’s cooperation with Huawei can grow, because the country has “great engineers and an excellent geographic position.”

According to the minister, Huawei is set to present the functioning of 5G technology at the 4th China-CEEC Conference on Innovation Cooperation together with Telekom, Serbian telecommunication public enterprise.

CEEC stands for Central and Eastern European countries. The 4th China-CEEC Conference on Innovation Cooperation will open on Oct. 8 in Belgrade.
