The Government of Serbia will grant a €10.6 million subsidy to the Beočin cement plant operated by Lafarge, part of the Holcim Group, Nova Ekonomija reports.

The subsidy is intended to support the construction of a new cement production and distribution facility in Obrenovac. The project is expected to create at least 51 permanent jobs by the end of 2026, with over €3 million allocated for salaries over two years, according to the contract signed on October 9 by Economy Minister Andrijana Mesarović and Lafarge director Dimitrije Knjegić.

Lafarge has committed to maintaining a minimum of 320 permanent employees for five years after the investment project is completed. Additionally, each new employee will receive a salary at least 20% above the national minimum wage once employment obligations are fulfilled.
