Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović signed an agreement with Lafarge Serbia CEO Dimitrije Knjeginjić, granting the company incentive funds for the construction of a cement factory near Obrenovac. The investment, valued at over 112 million euros, is expected to create at least 50 new jobs.
Mesarović noted that Lafarge, part of the Holcim Group, already operates in Beočin, employing 320 workers. She highlighted that the new factory in Ratari, Obrenovac municipality, will use a technologically advanced and environmentally friendly production process. The factory is scheduled to begin operations by January 1, 2028, with 50 new positions planned.
Lafarge Serbia CEO Dimitrije Knjeginjić stated that products from the new factory will meet the highest environmental standards in line with European and global benchmarks. He emphasized that the project sets a new standard for the Lafarge Holcim Group and the wider industry.
Knjeiginjić also noted that the cooperation with the Serbian government was fast, transparent, and straightforward. Lafarge has committed a total investment of 112,250,876 euros, with project completion expected by the end of 2027.
