Serbia has made progress in the latest Global Innovation Index report

The Government of Serbia announced today that in this year’s report of the Global Innovation Index, Serbia has advanced by four places and now ranks 53rd out of the 131st economy in the world on the list.
One of the most significant results in this year’s report is that Serbia’s innovative performance is rated far better than that expected from a country with a GDP like ours.
In this year’s report, Serbia also advanced as many as 16 places in the area called Knowledge Impact, which measures the impact of knowledge on economic development.
According to the Global Innovation Index, the first economy in the world is Switzerland, followed by Sweden, while the United States is in third place.
The Global Innovation Index measures the performance of 131 economies based on 80 different indicators: degree of development and application of science, higher education, number of graduate and scientific engineering specialists in the field of high technology, degree of application and efficiency of technologies and knowledge economy, etc.
This report was published by the World Intellectual Property Organization – a specialized agency of the United Nations, in cooperation with Cornell University in New York and the Swiss multinational business school INSEAD, which has its campuses in Europe (France), Asia (Singapore) and the Middle East (Abu Dhabi), eKapija reports.
