The state has largely mitigated the fatal consequences of the pandemic with a set of measures it adopted in a timely manner.
Milun Trivunac, a special advisor to the president of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (SCC), said that the closure of the company had avoided large job losses.
He said that all major international creditors, such as the IMF, the World Bank, the EBRD and others, praised the adopted economic measures.
– What is very important to point out is that the adopted measures were the only ones possible due to the previously implemented consolidation, which made the fiscal space to finance them – he pointed out and added that new investors who recognize Serbia as a stable market for their business.
Regarding whether the measures should have been more selective because not everyone suffered equally in this crisis, Trivunac said that at the time the measures were adopted, it could not be assumed how long the epidemic would last, and due to the strong impact on the economy, the first measures were adopted and they referred mainly to the entire economy and the state made an effort to meet everyone’s needs.
– Initially, the most important thing was to preserve general liquidity in the economy. Attention was paid and help was offered to all citizens of Serbia, because in such situations it is almost impossible to separate economic measures from social policy – he pointed out.
As far as the selectivity of the measures is concerned, the last measures had such a character, because attention was paid to the businessmen who were most affected by the crisis, such as hoteliers, caterers and carriers.
When it comes to the fact that PKS enabled businessmen from the region to be vaccinated and that the response was great from all countries, including Albania, Trivunac said that Serbia and its leaders do not deal with the origin of blood cells.
– It is good that businessmen from the region responded in large numbers to the invitation of Serbia to come to us to be vaccinated, because mass vaccination is a precondition for repairing the economy in the region – he pointed out.
PKS has the closest and highest quality relations with regional chambers of commerce, not only on this issue, but also on economic cooperation and maintaining dynamic communication business, Trivunac emphasized.
– The diplomatic skill of the President and the Government in connection with the procurement of vaccines, gave us the opportunity to help businessmen and investors from the region, which rightly caused a great deal of public attention – he added, Srbija Danas reports.
