The Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Đedović Handanović, announced that the technical specifications for the Serbia-Hungary oil pipeline have been finalized, with construction expected to begin next year.

The technical documentation will be completed by the end of this year, paving the way for the pipeline’s construction. This strategic project, agreed upon at the highest levels between Serbia and Hungary, is currently being discussed with Russia and is intended to serve the region for decades.

The pipeline will diversify Serbia’s crude oil supply routes. Its planned capacity is up to five million tons of crude oil annually, with the Serbian section spanning 113 kilometers.

Đedović Handanović also expressed gratitude to Hungary for supporting Serbia’s request to postpone sanctions on the Oil Industry of Serbia (NIS) imposed by the US administration, highlighting the shared commitment to enhancing regional energy security.

The document defining the pipeline’s technical details was signed by representatives of “Transnafta” and Hungary’s MOL company, in the presence of high-ranking officials from both countries.
