Serbia, In 2023, 4.4 billion euros of foreign investments

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali said today that we will remember last year for the record inflow of foreign direct investments, which reached the level of 4.4 billion euros.

– This is the final result for 2022 achieved despite the crisis and global uncertainty. Despite all that, investors continue to come to Serbia and create new jobs – said Mali.

He pointed out for RTS that the correlation with this data is also the fact that Serbia achieves a record low unemployment rate since this indicator has been at the level of 8.9 percent for two quarters in a row, which is a result that has never been achieved before.

– These are the official data of the Republic Institute of Statistics, we are fighting for every job, the youth unemployment rate has decreased from 50 percent to 25 percent – Mali said.

He reminded that in order to reach the set goals and go through the crisis with as few consequences as possible, the state helped the economy and citizens with around nine billion euros.

Responding to criticism that the unemployment rate is lower due to the decrease in the number of inhabitants in Serbia, Mali pointed out that the absolute numbers of employment deny this, and stated that from 2001 to 2012, employment in Serbia fell from 2.26 million to 1.8 million. citizens, and today it again amounts to 2.25 million.

– This means that we created more than 400,000 jobs, that is, that so many people got a job – said Mali.

He concluded that, despite the worst scenarios, our country has preserved jobs and production capacities, with serious support for the economy, which are all the results of our citizens in difficult economic conditions.
