The Serbian government is to invest EUR43.46 million (USD47.26 million) in the country’s defence industry following a decision made in Belgrade on 20 April during a meeting between Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and representatives of the nation’s military-industrial complex.

The allocated funds are 9.05% of EUR480 million in budget savings accumulated over the first four months of 2017 that are entirely at odds with government and International Monetary Fund assessments, which predicted a deficit of around EUR430 million by 1 May.
