The Minister of Mining and Energy, Zorana Mihajlovic, stated today that Serbia is “energy stable” with the provided quantities of energy and that the citizens have “enough electricity and heat energy and gas”.
She pointed out that Serbia must take care of “energy poverty” and added that the Ministry had defined a document on the energy-protected customer before the global crisis.
“This decree means that we help those people who cannot pay their bills for electricity, gas or heat, and our estimates are that, when we talk about electricity, more than 200,000 households will use the possibilities of an easier way of payment,” said Mihajlovic.
When it comes to the bills for gas or heat energy, Mihajlovic stated that they estimate that the possibilities from the decree will be used by several thousand households.
“We have enough energy, but we must also take care of endangered customers, because when we provide them with sufficient amounts of energy, which they can pay for, then we also have the stability of the electricity system,” said Mihajlovic.
The world and Europe are facing a serious shortage of energy, which is why a record increase in gas prices has been recorded in many countries, Danas reports.
