The Ministry of Finance, through its Department for Contracting and Financing of EU-Funded Programs (CFCU), has announced a tender for the construction of a wastewater collection and treatment system in the city of Čačak, under the EU’s Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA III). The project aims to improve wastewater management and ensure compliance with the EU Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive.
The scope of work includes four main components:
- Design and construction of the Prelići wastewater treatment plant with an access road,
- Design and reconstruction of pumping stations in Ljubić Polje, Beljina, and Košutnjak, along with an access road to Ljubić Polje,
- CCTV inspection, design, and rehabilitation of the sewer network,
- Procurement of sewer cleaning and inspection equipment.
The selected contractor will be responsible for the complete implementation — including design, equipment procurement, construction, commissioning, and system testing.
The project is financed by European Union funds, and the procurement process is managed by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia. The contract duration is set at 1,099 days from the signing date, and the deadline for submitting bids is February 19, 2026.
According to earlier statements by Čačak Mayor Milun Todorović, the wastewater treatment plant will be located in the Atenica area, specifically in Kulinovci, near the confluence of the Atenička River and the Morava River. The investment, initially estimated at €32 million, has been increased to €47 million due to rising costs.
Todorović also told local media in July that the ministry was expected to announce the tender soon, and that construction could be completed within two years once the contractor is selected.
