Serbia’s Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Đedović Handanović, has urged local governments to apply by August 8 for a public call offering funding for energy efficiency improvements in public buildings. The program aims to help municipalities and cities upgrade facilities such as health centers, kindergartens, and schools to reduce electricity consumption, lower heating and electricity bills, and improve comfort for users.

The total budget allocated for this year’s call is 571.3 million dinars. The Ministry will cover 70% of the costs for individual projects, up to a maximum of 30 million dinars, while local governments will contribute the remaining 30%.

Subsidies are granted for energy-saving measures such as upgrading facades, roofs, replacing doors and windows, switching from mazut boilers to cleaner fuels, and installing solar panels or solar water collectors. Special attention is given to less-developed municipalities, which may receive full subsidies covering 100% of project costs.
