More than 13 years after the restitution process began to return property confiscated after World War II, over 70,000 restitution decisions have been made, with about 5,100 cases still pending.

These remaining cases are those where the first decision has yet to be made. It is estimated that it will take around five more years to complete the process.

The natural restitution phase is practically finished, and the current focus is on financial compensation. The government has planned a total of two billion euros for compensation, of which around 280 million euros have been paid so far.

Compensation payments are made in installments and bonds, with obligations being fulfilled on time. Payments are structured in five-year installments, and the process is currently in its fifth round.

The remaining property to be returned in kind mostly consists of agricultural land and smaller parcels.
