First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali met with Dimitri Kerkentzes, Secretary General of the International Bureau of Exhibitions (BIE), to discuss preparations for the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO 2027, which will be held in Belgrade, Serbia.
Ahead of the first International Participants Meeting (IPM) scheduled for June 10–11 in Belgrade, 323 delegates from 133 countries will define conditions for their participation. This is the first of four preparatory meetings leading up to the event.
So far, 110 countries have confirmed participation, surpassing the 117 countries at the last specialized EXPO in Astana. Mali stated that EXPO 2027 will be the largest specialized EXPO to date, highlighting Serbia’s growing international appeal.
Serbia expects over three million visitors and significant investor interest. The government plans a new investment cycle beginning in 2028 to capitalize on the event’s momentum, with a total of 323 projects under the “Leap into the Future – Serbia 2027” program valued at €17.8 billion, including the €1.2 billion EXPO development.
Kerkentzes praised Serbia’s commitment and stressed the importance of the event for the region, calling it a catalyst for other national projects and a chance to showcase regional potential on the world stage.
The upcoming IPM meeting is also expected to see more countries officially commit to participation, confirming the growing international enthusiasm for EXPO 2027.
