Serbia projects 24% increase in wheat production for 2025 amid declines in other crops

Based on the crop conditions as of May 23, it is expected that Serbia will produce 3.60 million tons of wheat this year, which is 24.3% more than the production in 2024, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia announced today.

A decrease in production is expected for raspberries, down 12.2% compared to last year, and for sour cherries, down 42.3%. Compared to the previous year, as of the assessment date, this spring’s sowing shows a decrease in planted areas for corn by 2.7%, sugar beet by 26.6%, sunflower by 2.5%, and soybeans by 5.8%.

Compared to the ten-year average from 2015 to 2024, wheat production is up by 25.0%, while the sown area for sunflower is higher by 9.3%. Conversely, areas planted with corn decreased by 1.6%, sugar beet by 21.1%, and soybeans by 3.2%.
