Serbia has secured a loan of 70 million euros from the German KfW bank to finance a program aimed at improving water supply efficiency and wastewater treatment in the country’s ecological and sustainable cities, eKapija reported today. The loan agreement was signed on December 27 of last year in Frankfurt and Belgrade, with the parliamentary procedure now including a bill to confirm the agreement.
The loan will be available until June 30, 2030.
Serbia will repay the loan in 21 equal half-yearly installments of 3.33 million euros each, due every May 15 and November 15, beginning in May 2030 and concluding in May 2040, according to the report.
The fixed interest rate for the loan is based on the SWAP rate, as determined by the ICAE Bloomberg page, with a margin of 0.65 percent per year, which takes into account the grant funds provided by the German Government.
In addition to this agreement, Serbia and KfW Bank will also conclude two grant agreements.
