Dušan Bajatović, the director of Srbijagas, announced that gas prices for households in Serbia will remain unchanged until the end of the heating season. He emphasized that the country has a stable gas supply through the Turkish Stream, ensuring that there are no shortages.
“We don’t need to worry until the end of the heating season, as we have more than enough gas. We have made thorough preparations. There are 100 million cubic meters stored in Hungary, and the Banat Palace is filled. We are drawing up to 2.5 million cubic meters from Azerbaijan, and in total, we can supply between 19 and 21 million cubic meters per day. At the peak of winter, we do not expect to need more than 17 million cubic meters,” Bajatović said, commenting on the suspension of Russian gas transit through Ukraine.
He assured that the gas price for households would not change, stating that Serbia has sufficient gas supplies and there is no need for concern.
Discussing the global gas situation, especially in Europe, Bajatović explained that the United States has become a significant supplier to the European market.
“Gas deliveries in Europe have decreased by ten percent. Interestingly, while Russian gas is no longer flowing through pipelines, the supply of Russian gas in the form of liquefied natural gas (LNG) has increased significantly. The United States now occupies a substantial portion of the European market. Gas storage levels are depleting quickly, especially due to the demands of power plants, as green energy sources alone are not sufficient,” Bajatović added.
