By mid-2025, Serbia expects to finalize the process of introducing the 5G network, according to Minister of Information and Telecommunications, Dejan Ristić. During a press conference outlining the ministry’s achievements for 2024 and its goals for 2025, Ristić provided an update on ongoing projects, including the renewal of licenses for 2G, 3G and 4G networks.
The renewal process, which includes international auctions, is expected to be completed by mid-2025. This will ensure the continued development of telecommunications infrastructure across the country. Ristić also emphasized the ongoing expansion of broadband internet access, a key priority for the government’s digitalization efforts.
Regarding the media sector, the minister highlighted that efforts to support media projects will continue, with the highest-ever funding allocated for media projects in 2025. A budget of 515 million dinars will be set aside for project financing, aimed at further fostering development within the media community in Serbia.
