Serbia strengthens economic ties with China as Deputy PM welcomes HBIS Group delegation

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović welcomed the delegation from HBIS Group, led by the group’s president Liu Jian, at the “Nikola Tesla” airport.

Mesarović expressed her gratitude for HBIS’s ongoing contributions in Smederevo, describing the company as a symbol of the strong “steel friendship” between Serbia and China. She highlighted that the business in Smederevo continues to grow year after year, supporting economic development and providing jobs for over 5,000 people. This makes HBIS a key pillar of Serbia’s industrial strength and economic stability.

She emphasized the commitment to further deepen cooperation and build a shared future, rooted in the close ties between the Serbian and Chinese peoples, as championed by presidents Aleksandar Vučić and Xi Jinping.

Thanks to these strong relations, numerous Chinese investments have been realized in Serbia, enhancing the country’s economic profile. With the firm support of President Vučić, the Serbian Government, and the President of the Serbian Progressive Party Miloš Vučević, efforts continue to develop and strengthen Serbia’s economy, Mesarović concluded.
