The Ministry of Finance has filed a new application for a building permit to continue construction of the National Football Stadium in Belgrade, according to Forbes Serbia. The permit is expected to be issued in September.
The stadium project, located on a 314,069-square-meter plot, is being built in phases. Phase 1, already permitted, includes preparatory and foundation works valued at 3.94 billion dinars. Phase 2, covering above-ground construction, exterior decoration, parking, and roads, requires a separate permit.
Work on the above-ground pillars seen in videos had previously lacked approval due to pending environmental impact assessment (EIA) consent. The Ministry of Environmental Protection has now approved the EIA, allowing the Ministry of Finance to submit the new permit request.
The stadium’s above-ground structure will cover 173,281 square meters, with underground facilities of 28,268.87 square meters, and is expected to accommodate 52,000 spectators.
Additional permits for preparatory work in the stadium’s parking areas, valued at over two billion dinars (17.7 million euros), were issued in June. A subsequent amendment request in July was rejected due to incomplete documentation.
