The Government of Serbia has sent a letter to the U.S. administration supporting the request by the Oil Industry of Serbia (NIS) for another delay in the sanctions imposed due to Russian ownership in the company.
Washington had already postponed the sanctions on NIS for one month, and the deadline expires on Friday, March 28th at midnight, or 6 AM on Saturday, March 29th, due to the time difference, according to RTS.
Minister Dubravka Đedović Handanović chaired a session of the Working Group for Monitoring the Activities of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), during which it was decided to support NIS’s request for an additional postponement of the sanctions.
Dušan Bajatović, the director of Srbijagas, also stated for RTS that lawyers have requested the U.S. OFAC to extend the sanctions on NIS, which had already been delayed once for a month.
