Serbia plans to secure a €27.25 million loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) to modernize its tax administration. The government has approved a law confirming the loan agreement, signed on 6–7 August 2025.
The project aims to improve tax collection efficiency and reduce compliance burdens for taxpayers. Loan repayments are scheduled semiannually on 15 April and 15 October, with a ten-year term including a three-year grace period. Principal repayments will start on 15 October 2028 and conclude on 15 April 2035. A 0.25% fee applies to both the total principal and undrawn funds.
Funds can be drawn up to four months after the project completion date, defined as 30 April 2028, and the Serbian Tax Administration will implement the project.
