Serbia plans to build two gas pipelines within the next three years to connect with North Macedonia and Romania, announced Saša Koković, Acting Assistant Minister of Mining and Energy responsible for energy and gas.

With support from the European Union, the gas interconnection with North Macedonia will link Serbia to the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TAP), providing access to the Southern Gas Corridor and the LNG terminal in Greece. Simultaneously, Serbia will connect to the BRUA pipeline and gas sources from neighboring Romania.

Koković emphasized that European countries are intensifying efforts to expand gas storage capacities for greater energy security. Serbia aims to expand its underground gas storage facility in Banatski Dvor by the end of next year as a strategic priority.
