Serbia’s government has said it expects to receive a 40 million euro ($49.8 million) credit from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to finance a project for an overhaul of the country’s water supply system.
Total investment in the project will amount to 50 million euro, of which 10 million euro will be provided by EIB in the form of a grant, the Serbian government said in a statement on Wednesday.
The EIB loan for the overhaul and construction of the water supply system is included in the 2018 state budget, the government said after a meeting of Serbian prime minister Ana Brnabic with the EIB vice-president, Dario Scannapieco.
Serbia’s government is in talks with EIB to receive financing for the digitalisation of the education process in the schools in the country, Brnabic said.
In November, Serbia’s infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic said the government has agreed a fresh 500 million euro financing from the EIB for infrastructure projects.
