The Social-Economic Council failed to reach an agreement on the 2026 minimum wage, and the government will make the final decision by September 15.
It was agreed that the minimum wage will increase from €450 to €500 in October 2025, while from January 1, 2026, it will rise to €551, a 10.1% increase. Trade unions had proposed €600, while employers argued that no further increase was needed after the October adjustment.
Finance Minister Siniša Mali and Labor Minister Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski confirmed that the official proposal will set the minimum wage at €551 (64,554 RSD) from January 2026. The government will finalize the decision during its session, fulfilling its commitment to raise the minimum wage despite the lack of consensus at the Council.
