Serbia, Ukraine to step up economic cooperation

Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic met today with Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Vladimir Litvin and discussed bilateral relations, EU integration and ways to boost the economic cooperation between the two countries.

Cvetkovic thanked Ukraine for its principled stance not to recognise the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo-Metohija, stressing that the Serbian government believes that dialogue is the only way to reach a compromise solution for historical reconciliation between Serbs and Albanians.

They agreed that there is room to bolster economic cooperation between the two countries, especially in infrastructure and energy, and that there is interest to continue with trade liberalisation.

They concurred that the introduction of a visa-free regime between Serbia and Ukraine will further improve their cultural, education and economic cooperation.
