Serbia welcomes Zijin’s $4 billion investment in Bor, strengthening bilateral ties

Aleksandra Sofronijević, Serbia’s Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure, expressed appreciation today during a meeting with a delegation from the Chinese company Zijin, led by Zijin Copper CEO Cu Godzhu and Zijin Mining CEO Suo Jongding. She highlighted the importance of Zijin’s decision to invest in Bor at a challenging time for Serbia, emphasizing the strong friendship between Serbia and China, reinforced by the close personal ties of Presidents Aleksandar Vučić and Xi Jinping, the Ministry announced.

“We value your contribution to Serbia’s economic development, especially in the Bor region. We are particularly pleased to see that Zijin is a socially responsible company that allocates funds to community projects, further improving the quality of life for Bor’s citizens,” Sofronijević stated.

Zijin Copper CEO Cu Godzhu expressed gratitude for the Ministry’s support over the past six years. He also noted that since entering Serbia, Zijin has invested four billion dollars in various projects, according to the Ministry’s statement.
