The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure has granted a use permit for System 50 Block 3 of the Kostolac Thermal Power Plant, the Serbian Government announced. This unit is considered the core of the new power plant and a symbol of Serbia’s energy security.

At the end of last year, Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) officially took over the new production unit, Kostolac B3, following the handover ceremony between EPS and the contractor, the Chinese company China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC).

The Kostolac B3 thermal power plant has a capacity of 350 megawatts and is expected to supply about five percent of Serbia’s total electricity production.
