The political party “Nova – Da se struka pita” has called on authorities to urgently release the complete technical documentation and usage permit for the newly opened section of the “Miloš Veliki” highway from Pakovraće to Požega, or to immediately suspend traffic until all legal requirements are met.
The party raised concerns following reports that the highway segment was opened without a usage permit and without an available technical inspection report. They criticized the practice of launching projects without proper oversight, driven by political directives rather than expert approval.
A professional commission reportedly refused to sign the final safety report for the section but was allegedly pressured into doing so. Neither the Ministry of Construction nor the Public Enterprise “Putevi Srbije” has provided any documents confirming the route’s safety or responded to journalists’ inquiries.
The party emphasized that Serbian citizens should not be held hostage by political marketing or investments that lack transparent, expert-supervised processes.
Engineers reportedly rejected endorsement of the project due to previous tragic incidents linked to similar oversights, such as the collapse of a canopy at the newly built railway station in Novi Sad that caused 16 deaths.
The party stressed that neglecting expert procedures and opening infrastructure without proper control endangers lives. Safety must take precedence over political interests, and experts must have the final say.
They also reminded the public that safety equipment requirements in tunnels were removed from legal obligations following 2022 regulation changes, further weakening expert oversight and transparency in major projects.
