During her appearance on TV Pink, Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Đedović Handanović, highlighted that the right to reduced electricity and gas bills can be claimed by the most vulnerable social groups, including recipients of child allowances and other categories of society. She emphasized that the new amended regulation is aligned with the growth in living standards and the consumer basket.

She mentioned that, under the new regulation, a family of three with an income lower than 54,000 dinars can now qualify for a reduction in their electricity and gas bills, and that this threshold has been increased compared to the previous period.

She also pointed out that for Serbia’s energy sector, it is good news that the United States has postponed the implementation of sanctions on NIS for two months, until June 27.

“We have worked for a long time to explain to the new U.S. administration and to try to be removed from the sanctions list,” said Đedović Handanović.

She added that the American partners were presented with the fact that these measures would negatively impact Serbian citizens and the energy system, but would not affect the Russian energy system.

“We found understanding, and the sanctions have been postponed until June 27, with NIS receiving a special license to carry out its functions and activities,” Đedović Handanović stated.

She further emphasized that this is extremely significant for Serbia’s energy security, especially now with the beginning of the agricultural season.
