DuÅ¡an Živković, General Director of “Elektroprivreda Srbije” (EPS), reassured Serbian citizens in a guest appearance on RTS’s Jutarnji dnevnik, stating that there is no need for concern regarding electricity supply, as the country is well-prepared for the winter season.

“We are ready for the holidays, and the current energy situation is calm,” Živković affirmed. He acknowledged the geopolitical challenges but assured that efforts are underway to mitigate potential risks.

Živković highlighted that coal reserves at thermal power plants stand at 1.6 million tons, with sufficient exposed coal in mines to meet energy demands. Despite challenges from heavy, wet snow, EPS has demonstrated its ability to manage such conditions effectively.

The hydrological situation has also improved, with reservoirs along the Danube now approximately 75% full, ensuring adequate water supply for power generation during the winter.

He added that the new B3 block at the Kostolac power plant is now online and operating smoothly, providing stable support to the national power grid. The TENT A and B plants continue to play a pivotal role in meeting half of Serbia’s electricity consumption.

Looking ahead, Živković assured the public that electricity prices would remain stable in 2024, with no planned increases. EPS continues to focus on increasing efficiency and optimizing its operations to ensure that the coming year passes without price hikes for households.
