Serbia’s foreign trade grows 10.9% in first five months of 2025

Serbia’s total foreign trade in goods for January-May 2025 reached €31.2 billion, marking a 10.9% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia. Exports totaled €13.7 billion, up 10.2%, while imports amounted to €17.5 billion, rising 11.5% year-on-year.

The trade deficit increased by 16.7% to €3.7 billion. Export coverage of imports was 78.6%, slightly lower than 79.5% in the previous year.

The largest trade volumes were with countries having free trade agreements with Serbia. European Union member states accounted for 58.3% of total trade.

Serbia’s second most important trading partners were CEFTA countries, with which it recorded a trade surplus of €1.07 billion, mainly driven by exports of grains and related products, road vehicles, oil and petroleum products, beverages, and medical and pharmaceutical goods.
