On Friday, August 29, Serbia adopted a regulation limiting retail margins, which came into effect on Monday, September 1. Over the first weekend, Delhaize Serbia implemented the new rules, adjusting margins and prices for more than 12,000 products across all 559 stores nationwide.

From September 9, market inspectors conducted 83 checks in Delhaize stores, covering 1,884 products. During inspections, the company submitted over 25,000 documents, often under the legally minimum 24-hour deadline.

Delhaize stated that despite strict timelines, it complied with the regulation and assisted inspectors in interpreting complex documentation. The company maintains that the fines issued were unfair and plans to challenge them in court, seeking a fair ruling from the Misdemeanor Court.
