The military parade in Serbia is estimated to cost between €10 and €15 million, according to economist Nemanja Šormaz, though exact figures are unlikely to be disclosed.
Šormaz suggests the main purpose of the parade is to bolster the public image of the Serbian president and the ruling SNS party. His estimate is based on statements from government officials, institutional data, and reports from specialized portals tracking military parades.
He outlined major cost factors, including logistics, production, and security for around 10,000 participants, most of whom are military personnel requiring food, beverages, and daily allowances. Additional expenses include land and air military equipment, fuel for tanks and aircraft, airport support, firefighting services, and operational teams.
Production costs, including scenography, stage construction, sound, lighting, large screens, and television broadcasting, are expected to exceed €1 million alone. Šormaz also highlighted the costs of crowd management, extensive police involvement over multiple days, city services, and river fleet logistics.
