Serbia’s Post celebrated its 185th anniversary by launching a robotic automated parcel sorting system at its largest postal-logistics center, “Belgrade,” in Zemun. Acting Director Zoran Anđelković announced that the robotic platform features 153 robots and 216 sorting outlets, with a capacity to sort 7,000 parcels per hour.
This new system will speed up sorting processes and postal services across Serbia, including post-express deliveries, providing faster and higher-quality service to both business and private customers nationwide. The software integrating the robots into the postal IT system was developed by the company’s top engineers, automating six technological operations previously done manually.
The robotization project covers five postal centers, with centers in Belgrade, Niš, Kragujevac, and Novi Sad already equipped. The fifth center in Kraljevo is expected to launch by Vidovdan (June 28).
Anđelković emphasized that Serbia’s Post aims to lead in digitalization and AI implementation to improve client service. Construction of new logistics centers in Kruševac and Subotica is planned for this year. By the end of July, nearly 1,000 parcel lockers will be available across the country.
He also highlighted plans to improve services in smaller towns and villages, noting that Serbia’s Post serves around 4,500 rural settlements. Next year, the company may introduce delivery robots for rural areas if the legal framework allows it.
Finally, Anđelković announced the upcoming launch of an eDelivery system, expected by the end of this or next year, which will enable citizens to receive invoices, bills, and other documents electronically and quickly.
