Serbia’s public debt at the end of 2021 was 56.9 percent of GDP

Serbia’s public debt at the end of 2021 was 30.13 billion euros, which amounted to 56.9 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), the Ministry of Finance announced today.

At the end of November, the public debt was around 29.89 billion euros, or 56.4 percent of GDP.

At the end of 2020, Serbia’s public debt amounted to 26.67 billion euros or 57 percent of GDP.

In 2021, Serbia had a deficit of the republic budget in the amount of 286.1 billion dinars, which represents 4.6 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP), and it is better than the plan envisaged by the October budget revision by 18.4 billion dinars (0.3 percent of GDP), the Ministry of Finance announced.

Revenues were realized in the amount of 1,465.4 billion dinars, and expenditures were made in the amount of 1,751.4 billion dinars.

In December alone, the deficit amounted to 136.5 billion dinars, it was stated in the announcement.

At the level of the general government in 2021, the fiscal deficit in the amount of 259.4 billion dinars and the primary fiscal deficit in the amount of 150.7 billion dinars were realized.

The general government deficit in 2021 amounted to 4.2 percent of GDP, and the achieved result is better than planned by 0.7 percent of GDP, or 45.1 billion dinars, 021 writes.
