President of the State Audit Institution (DRI), Ivica Gavrilović, stated that the independent institution issued a qualified opinion on Serbia’s 2024 final budget account due to identified irregularities.
“The audit of the 2024 final budget account revealed irregularities amounting to 222.6 billion dinars (€1.9 billion),” Gavrilović said during a public hearing in the Serbian Parliament on the proposed 2026 budget and the final account for 2024.
He explained that auditors also uncovered irregularities and violations of regulations in the financial operations of budget beneficiaries that cannot be quantified numerically.
At the conclusion of the audit, the DRI issued 95 recommendations to budget users aimed at addressing the identified issues, most of which concern financial management and internal controls.
