The Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA) organizes Serbia’s third participation in the trade fair of food industry in the Asia-Pacific region – 2011 Foodex, which will be held in Tokyo between March 1 and 4. In Hall 4, at the National Booth of Serbia, six Serbian exporters of fresh, frozen and dried fruits, fruit juices and mushrooms will present their products through a unique mixture of folk and modern motives.
Companies Agropartner, Frigo Grand, Igda, Moravac, Prima-Borovnica and Sirogojno will promote their products not only at the booth of Serbia, but also at a mini conference scheduled for the first day of the trade fair. The last news before the departure of our exporters for Japan has additionally increased expectations – the biggest Japanese market chain – AEON Group, has selected Serbia as one of the few countries to negotiate with on future cooperation.
A curiosity is the fact that Serbia is the leading exporter of frozen raspberries to Japan where it covers one fourth of the market and has a larger market share than the USA and France. At previous exhibitions of the kind, large number of foreign buyers had the chance to get familiar with the exceptional quality of fruits, wine and mushrooms from Serbia. One of the most concrete results was the success of Vinarija Jelic (Jelic Wine Cellar), which signed an agreement with a Japanese distributor, with which the initial contact was made at Foodex in 2009 when Serbian companies made over 200 contacts, 50 of which already resulted in export arrangements worth EUR 1.4 million.
