While Kopaonik and Zlatibor remain Serbia’s most famous ski destinations, Stara Planina—the country’s largest mountain in eastern Serbia—still hides many of its natural charms from the wider public. Located near Knjaževac, Stara Planina forms a natural border with Bulgaria and offers stunning untouched landscapes and great potential for tourism development.

Covered in snow for almost five months each year, the mountain ranges between 1,100 and 1,900 meters above sea level, making it ideal for skiing. One of its most iconic spots, Babin Zub (1,758 meters), is a protected nature reserve and one of Serbia’s most scenic peaks.

Skiing on Stara Planina
